Update from an email i received xoxox
Dear Donor,
We are so grateful for your contribution last summer that allowed us to film a documentary we hope will further change lives. We are so sorry it’s taken us this long to get an update out; we’ve been tirelessly working to get this film completed. As I’m sure most of you know, this is quite a feat!
Our on-going motivation lies in creating a beautifully crafted story that will broaden the collective consciousness and our connectedness. What a more perfect time in our culture for a film like this!
While even the crew and mentors were elevated in profound ways, it was truly incredible to watch the impact this programming made on each and every teen during our seven days in Big Bear. Since Camp More we’ve seen a significant amount of growth in our campers and it brings us joy knowing they built sincere and honest friendships.
We have recently followed up (camera in hand) with several campers in their communities. We are amazed, as are their families; by the way these teens have proactively utilized the tools they gained at Camp.
To give you a better idea of what we mean, one of our campers from New Jersey, now 17, was recently invited to be the youngest panelist for a suicide prevention discussion in her community.
Another camper from Florida gave a motivational speech at the Be More Heroic assembly – which took place shortly after camp at his hometown high school- and is now spearheading the Be More Heroic Club at his school. He continues to inspire his peers through small acts of kindness and service projects.
One of our oldest campers, for the first time has not, one but TWO jobs, his own apartment and has successfully remained out of the justice system!
Lastly, a camper from Northern California, now 17, has also been sharing her story through speaking engagements, while mentoring a young girl who is also paralyzed.
These are just a few of the inspirational stories, we can’t give them all away or you won’t watch the documentary! ;)
In this phase of post-production, we are organizing footage as well as capturing the last of the follow up interviews with our campers. Our ultimate goal is to finish the film in time to submit to select film festivals later this year, in hopes of landing a distribution deal that will allow us to share this film with the world.
In order to accomplish this, we need to raise an additional $17,000 to complete the film. We are being diligent in our fundraising efforts and look forward to reaching our goal.
The River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding and Be More Heroic can’t thank you enough for your patience and generous donation that helped us get this far. We will keep you updated along the way in regards to the campaign perks you will be receiving as well as a sneak peak of the film!
With deep gratitude,
