Hi Admin,

I couldn't figure out how to do the vote so I just ended up clicking on lots of things until something worked. Maybe an explanation of how to do it might be helpful?

Hi Joy,

It should just be a case of clicking on the name of the movie/documentary you want to vote for? Is that what you did? I've updated the first message to state this.

Looks like i'm on my own this one at the moment. Blink I voted for "Her"... it looks a cool film with a very interesting concept! Where as Lowlife doesn't look too interesting to me, would probably give it a miss all together if it didn't have Joaquin in it! Flapper We'll see BigGrin

The only reason I voted for Lowlife is because I think it's going to be the first film to come out. If 'Her' comes out first, I'll be looking forward to that one the most. BigGrin

Unity looks like an interesting film, but Joaquin is only a contributor, so it didn't really count in my consideration.

Admin,
I used the same reasoning as Joy, I am very excited by both films but Her is too far away , October 2013, to start being excited about it . Plus I am a fan of James Gray too.

I am really curious about Unity, thanks for the info !

Yeah, that's fair enough Sami. I think the problem with asking this type of question to Joaquin fans is that they look forward to all his films! BigGrin their main focus is always going to be the one which will be released next.

Maybe i should have phrased the question differently?

Myself, when answering the question "Which Joaquin Phoenix movie are you most looking forward to!", i tried to look objectively and ignore the fact that Joaquin is in the movie... so, for me, it's still "Her"... there is just nothing about Lowlife that grabs me yet! Maybe when some trailers come out i'll think completely differently! BigGrin

Admin,
I see what you're saying.. We are quite predisposed as fans to like anything that Joaquin does but let me tell you why Lowlife is exciting . It is because Marion and Joaquin make a good combo, and bbecause the topic of immigration it's interesting. I remember when they were filming in NY last year and for a while they were in Ellis Island. I didn't know about it but apparently all the immigrants that arrived in NY for a period of time had to go through Ellis Island. they were held and told whether they were accepted and what category they had.. A lot of people have relatives who went through it.

Ellis Island, in Upper New York Bay, was the gateway for millions of immigrants to the United States as the nation's busiest immigrant inspection station from 1892 until 1954. The island was greatly expanded with land reclamation between 1892 and 1934. Before that, the much smaller original island was the site of Fort Gibson and later a naval magazine. The island was made part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument in 1965, and has hosted a museum of immigration since 1990. A 1998 United States Supreme Court decision found most of the island to be part of New Jersey. The south side of the island, home to the Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital, is closed to the general public and the object of restoration efforts spearheaded by Save Ellis Island. The island has been closed to the public since Hurricane Sandy in October 2012

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellis_Island

I am sad when people criticize immigrants because well, their ancestors were immigrants too and suffered the same. It's very cold. I hope the movie will soften some hearts.. But maybe it's more of a flick, I don't know ! Oh plus, there's about to be a big change n immigration policy, very soon. The timing is incredible !

This is all the imDb says

"An innocent immigrant woman is tricked into a life of burlesque and vaudeville until a dazzling magician tries to save her and reunite her with her sister who is being held in the confines of Ellis Island."

But I see, we all have our preferences in style ! Spike Jonze is so creative ! :)
