I watched Her yesterday!!!! And as I see everybody haven't seen it yet, I won't say anything.... but I LOVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

The word to describe this movie is: BEAUTY.

Well! I have to admit that even I had read a lot of things about the movie I ended up very surprised because of the movie... is a great movie! And very emotional, it leaves you think in a lot of things...

That's great you enjoyed the film, fu&s.

Wow, admin. That's a natty talent you have there!   Cappuccino art - not just any old froth. haha.

I was listening to the radio this morning and a section on 'Woman's Hour' was about a woman who writes uplifting letters to people. No prizes for guessing who it reminded me of.

One Million Lovely Letters
  • Instead of the usual sweary scrawls that teenagers graffiti on their school textbooks, Jodi Ann Bickley would write ‘You’re lovely’, or ‘Don’t worry – it’ll be lunch soon!’. Next she started leaving little notes of cheer and positivity on bus seats or in doctors’ surgeries for strangers to find. She also wrote poetry, which she performed at festivals all over the country - but at one festival, she was bitten by a tick, and contracted encephalitis. This was complicated by a mini-stroke, which left her needing to relearn how to write and walk, and chronic fatigue syndrome. But, in this place of exhaustion and depression, she began her One Million Lovely Letters project. Anyone can email Jodi if they’re feeling down for any reason, and she will post a written letter to remind them that they are loved, have worth, and mustn’t lose hope. She talks with Jenni about how it feels to receive emails from strangers all over the world sharing their problems, and the importance of spreading happiness.

You can listen to the interview (if you want to) here:

PS: The archive interview (1957) with Lilian Gish on the same programme is excellent, btw!

I could have this profession, because I'm a kind of David Copperfield for the love

I like writting, and I have two blogs, three because I started a failed blog in English Language... but I stopped!

My Her thoughts:

First of all, to me more than one story about the freak relation Man-OS it has been a great analysis about the human feeling and love... who do we fall for with really when we fall in love?
To me we fall in love of our own idea of love... and it is what the movie explores...

I have seen myself in a lot of thoughts and experiences which appears in the story...

Looks like Spike has missed a great opportunity!  Doesn't look like we'll be getting the selectable Scarlett Johansson/Samantha Morton OS voice on the Her DVD/Blu-ray

That would have been sooooooooo cool...

I saw this in the theatre and although it was a wonderful movie, it had me feeling very melancholy afterward.  I think it opened up emotions/feelings that I had surpressed for along time and it was unsettling.  I must admit, I did cry a little afterward.  Even though it's not my cup of tea, it was still a brilliant film.

Her seems to be turning into a cult movie, wit plenty of fans!  I bet it's still popular twenty years from now, like The Breakfast club or similar movies.

What movies are your cup of tea Hippie Chick?

It really does.  People are still very much talking about the film and the wardrobe, lol.  Well, let's see, movies that I like?  Anything Disney, Victoria and Albert, The Young Victoria, Elizabeth, Anna Karenina, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, The Village, Brother Bear, Walk the Line, Reservation Road, I'm Still Here.  I like a lot of historical type movies, especially about Royalty.  Oh, I almost forgot, Forrest Gump.  That's only a few.  Then there's Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke, Cheech and Chongs Next Movie, Half Baked, Bio Dome, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas...

Places You Didn't Expect Joaquin's Name To Crop Up # 69

I read an article in The Times magazine yesterday (paper version) entitled:

'Would You Buy a Sexbot From This Man?'.  Matt McMullen's 'love dolls' cost up to $50,000, are hyperrealistic down to freckles and real eyebrows - and are selling faster than he can make them. Is this the sex of the future?

The paragraph which mentioned Joaquin:

The movie reference that most closely resembles McMullen’s ideal future is the film Her, starring Scarlett Johansson – she voices the character of a hyper-advanced talking smartphone app, which steals Joaquin Phoenix’s heart. ”Siri (the equivalent of Her on Apple’s iPhone) proves that it’s possible to talk to your devices” McMullen says. “And if the processor can learn from its interactions, then t can learn what you like or don’t like. I see these dolls as a peripheral for your smartphone. That’s attainable. So instead of your phone reminding you of something, the voice comes out of the doll. And you get the perception that the doll is your girlfriend.”

You have to subscribe to The Times to read the full article but you can read the first paragraph and see some photos of the dolls which accompanied the article without subscribing:
