It takes such a long time for the wheels of the law to turn, but they are making headway.

Here's the site for the project if you'd like to know more about it:

I think it's a fantastic project.

Forgot to add that I think this article on the site mentioned above is interesting:

What is it about a vegetarian diet that you've never been able to afford?

I couldn't agree more! But... fish is poultry?   Oh, do you mean fish is 'chicken of the sea'?

On the whole, I agree with you, admin, especially for those of us who are fortunate and privileged enough to live in the so called 'first world'.

Personally, I think we, as a human race, have reached a point in our evolution where not eating animals is the next step.

Or cultural.

Someone will probably just invent a veggie meat-substitute cigarette.

Can't afford anything. it's an expensive lifestyle. the place that really sells vegetarian/vegan food is wholefoods and that's the most expensive place to shop for groceries. A friend of mine went shopping there that he posted once. i said don't spend too much he laughed and said thanks for the tip lol!!:)
yes fish is the "Chicken of the Sea" lol. I was wondering why they think it's ok to eat Chicken and fish. i dont think it is cos even tho it's not red meat its still an animal that you're eating.

You can't buy fruit & veg, rice, pasta, beans, lentils, dairy, bread, nuts, etc, in the regular supermarkets or markets? I find that hard to believe. Maybe if you think you have to replace the meat in your diet with meat-like substitutes or ready-made meals and take aways you will find the diet expensive, but you can eat very well and quite cheaply without those kinds of substitutes. I don't think it's an expensive lifestyle at all. In fact, I know it's not an expensive lifestyle and so do a lot of other people. Just requires some planning and a bit of effort and the will to do it.

I don't know why either. Maybe it's something to do with the amount of legs an animal has?   I agree with you though, although I don't spend any time being bothered by it.

i think it's cos of the red vs. white meat issue. Of why they think it's ok to eat the chicken & fish and not other meat.

Thanks Joy. I know some of the stuff you have mentioned you can buy there. but not everything.. I have vegetables with our dinner at times.. as much as we can. love rice and beans too!:)

Maybe that's it then, Mystaria. You'll have to ask next time you meet someone who says they are veggie but eats fish & poultry.

I want to talk about almonds and veganism next time.

The almonds and veganism will have to wait for another day.

Judge Calls Arguments on Rights of Chimpanzees ‘Extremely Interesting and Well Argued’

May 27, 2015 – New York, NY – At a hearing today in a New York County Supreme Court in Manhattan, the Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP) argued that chimpanzees Hercules and Leo are “autonomous and self-determining beings” who should be issued an order that releases them from the laboratory where they’re being held at Stony Brook University to Save the Chimps sanctuary in Florida.
