In case somebody missed it. I posted this on Films music:

" While we knew that Nonesuch was taking pre-orders for the soundtrack, to be released September 11th, what got lost in the shuffle was that the pre-order “would include an instant download of Greenwood’s ‘Application 45 Version 1’ from the album.” Stereogum has a stream of the track -- which we’ve included below for convenience -- and it’s every bit as twitchy and haunting as the previous trailers and clips have suggested. "

Are there any spoilers in the viewers overview?

Hi Sami, i think 'the overview' is pretty safe, but it links to reviews that give more detail of the film.

Thanks admin!

I'm glad you enjoyed the pics . I thought it would be nice to throw in some "candy".

I just saw that there is another screening of The Master in SF tomorrow and there is a new teaser as well but I don't want to watch it or post it here. If want to watch it it's on cigarette and vines.

Thanks for posting Admin. From all of the ones I've seen so far this is the one i like the most. It seems like a painting, right ? It's not computer made or a photo. I love it !

Many film lovers are looking forward to this film like a child for Christmas . There is much anticipation and I sense a feeling of joy about it . People seems really happy, like in " finally after so many years of a long drought we can see a oasis in the horizon." It's both Paul and Joaquin's come back, and it's not a shy one!
To me as an artist, what this film represents is a return to cinema as an art form. I hope it will influence other areas as well !

I'm so proud to be a fan of Joaquin!!I

Yes Sami, it is an interesting poster. I assume it's Joaquin's eye on the left and Philip Seymour Hoffman's on the right.

I guess it's trying to suggest that the 'student' mirrors the 'master'? Confused

I wonder about that too! It could also mean they are opposite? Or two sides of the same coin? I'll try to find who painted the poster, there's a signature ..

Review of The Master film by user "Zac" at havingsaidthat.net

The Master: A rating

"It doesn’t hurt that Joaquin Phoenix has never been better as Freddie in a performance for the ages. Phoenix becomes the character and throws everything into the part; both physically and emotionally."

"Phoenix’s performance is right in the running for the best so far this year and I find it hard to imagine anyone will top it."

"One scene in particular somehow stands above the many other excellent sequences in the film, which is the “processing” sequence. Phoenix is incredible. The moment (like most of the film) feels effortlessly natural and we can see Hoffman working his magic as both Dodd and a cooperating actor, allowing Phoenix to deliver the best scene of his life."

Wow. "Deliver the best scene of his life". That's some acclaim!

The new poster for the SF screening brings to my mind those ink blot pictures used in the psychiatric field to glean information from patients about the state of, and what's going on in, their mind. And it does kind of look like the prow of a ship (is that what it is, a prow, when viewed from the front?), so apt for the screening I'd say, given the title of the SF trailer.

I've also decided not to view any of the trailers (but thanks for posting them, Admin) because I want to see this film with as little knowledge about it as possible. For the same reason I'm being careful about reading reviews too, so I can make up my own mind when I see the film, but am reading just enough to feel the excitement.

Joy,

If it helps you decide whether to watch the trailers or not... apparently, based on what people who have said who have actually seen the film, a lot of the scenes that appear in the teaser trailers aren't in the actual film (i guess it superfluous footage or specific scenes shot for teaser trailers?)... so, it's debatable how much of the film the teaser trailers actually give away.

OK Admin, thanks for the info; that's useful to know.

I think I will leave watching the trailers until I've seen the film, even though, by definition, I guess a trailer is meant to be watched before the film. (Unless it's a trailer towed by a vehicle, in which case it comes after. Laugh ) Anyway, watching the trailers after I've seen the film means that there will still be a Joaquin treat for me to look forward to.

I would have loved to have seen the film screening at the Castro theatre with the organist playing. Not that I'm into organ music but I do like a sense of occasion and where do we get to see an organist rise up out of the floor to play these days? Wonderful! BigGrin

Omg Joy, you are onto something ! (re:poster ) I just googled the inkblot test. I remember doing one as a kid. In school we all had to do it, lol

This is what it looks like :
UserPostedImage

It does look like the painting evoques this , maybe for a specific message ... Like ? Oh not very sane people here ? Hehe

What I first saw on the original poster was the back of a split violin, but then it could also look like two lungs and a trachea Plus the two eyes ... Altogether would make a bust, an abstract one of course !

btw ,
I'm so glad to know you will be posting . We are in for a big treat indeed :)

Yes, I'm like this too! I love the sense of occasion that the organist brings. Almost in an old fashioned way, and the theatre and the curtains, the stage,.. It is beautiful . Context makes a difference. It makes the experience better!
